A Titusville man was released on bond after being charged in connection to a September motorcycle crash that paralyzed another man.
Jarrel D. Brothers, 22, posted a $7,500 bond Wednesday night, according to Brevard County jail records. Clerk of Court records show he was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to sell as well as misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Brothers was a “person of interest” after the Sept. 10 crash that critically injured Charles “Rick” Udo, 54 of Titusville, according to Titusville police reports after the incident. An officer attempted to stop a maroon 1992 Chevrolet for having illegally tinted windows. Instead of stopping, the car continued north on DeLeon Avenue, running a red light and broadsiding the 2006 Harley-Davidson Udo was riding. The Chevrolet went through a chain-link fence and ended in the front yard of 625 S. DeLeon Ave. with the motorcycle underneath, police said. Two men in the car ran and still have not been identified. The impact sent Udo about 30 feet into the air like a rag doll, video from a camera in the police cruiser shows. Udo said he landed about 78 feet from the point of impact. Udo spent five months in hospitals recovering from the crash that left him paralyzed from the chest down and resulted in his right leg being amputated. |
